Court: Man Admits Attacking His Wife
A man who admitted attacking his wife during an argument has been given a six-month conditional discharge.
Morlando Morris, 37, pleaded guilty to assault at Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The court heard that Morris repeatedly punched his wife during the attack and used a piece of wood to strike her during a row on April 18 in St George’s.
Prosecutors also maintained that Morris then fetched a knife and pointed it at her. However despite pleading guilty to the charge Morris denied fetching a knife at any point during the row.
Morris’s wife told the court that she wanted matters to be dropped so she and her husband could work it out. However prosecutors said they were not in a position to drop the charges.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said: “Having heard from you and your wife who has come to the court to try to save you I am not going to waste the resources of this country or the time.
“I see you have no previous convictions and so am going to impose a six-month conditional discharge. Go about your business. Sort out your business.”
